£30,000 OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS

Works start Sunday 23 May for two nights

A section of the A90 northbound between Perth and Dundee is set to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £30,000 that are due to get underway on Sunday.

The overnight improvements will address defects in the road surface on the A90 Glendoick northbound on-slip creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The overnight improvements are scheduled to start on Sunday 23 May and will take place over two nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am.  All works are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Tuesday 25 May.

To ensure roadworkers as well as road users are kept safe during the project, a lane closure will be in place on the main carriageway during working hours. The on-slip will also be required to be closed overnight, a signed diversion will be in place via the Kinfauns interchange. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £30,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential to keep everyone safe during the improvements however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight and will remove the traffic management during the daytime to help limit the disruption to motorists.

“We encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or via the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
