£105,000 WEEKEND SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS

Works start Friday 15 January for three days

A section of the A90 Kingsway in Dundee is set to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £105,000 with work set to get underway on Friday 15 January.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the eastbound section of the A90 Clepington on-slip, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to get underway from 7.30pm on Friday 15 January and is planned to take place over three days using 24-hour working to minimise inconvenience. All improvements are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 18 January.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the Clepington on-slip will be closed throughout the weekend, with traffic being diverted to the Coupar Angus Roundabout to access the A90 eastbound Kingsway.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £105,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements by carrying out the works at the weekend.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or via the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
