An overnight project involving road surfacing improvements on the A92 between Salmondsmuir and Elliot Roundabout is set to begin on Monday 15 March for two weeks.
The project will involve carriageway resurfacing improvements on the A92 at Salmondsmuir Interchange, Nether Kelly Eastbound and Balcathie Westbound, creating a safer and smoother journey for motorists.
The overnight project is scheduled to begin on Monday 15 Monday and will take place over two weeks between 7pm and 7am each night. No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the first five nights of work at Salmondsmuir Interchange will require a slip road closure between 7pm to 7am. During the closures traffic exiting the A92 will continue to Elliot Roundabout, use Elliot Roundabout then continue back to Salmondsmuir Interchange using the off-slip westbound. Traffic accessing the A92 will use the Salmondsmuir off-slip westbound, continue to Muirdrum then take the off-slip westbound and on-slip eastbound onto the A92. Traffic on the Salmondsmuir local road C61 will be managed using temporary traffic signals. All other locations will be carried out using a 10mph convoy system during working hours.
There will then be road marking upgrades from Salmondsmuir to Elliot Eastbound and westbound which will be carried out using a 10mph convoy system during working hours.
All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Consultation is being carried out with emergency services, local authorities and transport organisations ahead of the project to inform them of the plans and the traffic management that will be in place.
A spokesperson for BEAR Scotland said: “This resurfacing programme is essential to ensure the continued safe use of these areas on the A92. The improvements, funded by Claymore Roads, are part of our long term A92 road maintenance programme and will help to ensure that the route remains fit for purpose for years to come.
“We will do everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum during these works and have planned the project to take place overnight as well as avoiding the busier Friday and Saturday nights.
“We would however encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance, leave some extra time for travel and ask them to drive carefully through any traffic management which is in place for their safety.”
Works are being undertaken by Breedon Northern Ltd on behalf of Claymore Roads and supervised by BEAR Scotland Ltd.
