Essential overnight surfacing improvements on the A92 Cowdenbeath southbound on-slip in Fife starts next week.
The resurfacing improvements will address any defects in the road, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
The overnight project will begin on Wednesday 18 November and will take place over two nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with work expected to be completed by 6.30am on Friday 20 November.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, the A92 Cowdenbeath southbound on-slip will be closed during working hours. A signed diversion route will be in place overnight. Three-way temporary traffic lights will also be in place on the A909 and the A92 Cowdenbeath southbound off-slip for safety. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway. New safe operation procedures and risk assessments have also been developed to ensure teams are kept safe throughout the project.
Consultation has taken place with local residents and stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “These surfacing improvements on the A92 at Cowdenbeath will help address and repair any defects in the road surface, such as potholes, helping to create a smoother and safer road surface for motorists.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists. We’ve planned this project to take place overnight when traffic volumes are reduced to help minimise any impact to road users as much as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A92. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
