Two primary school pupils from Aberfeldy have proven they are Winter Ready, coming first and runner up in a competition by BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company in the North West of Scotland.
Primary pupils from across the North West were asked to take part in our unique competition to create a logo or a strapline to help drivers remember what essentials they should keep in their car during the winter months.
With lots of great entries, our judging team were blown away with the fantastic ideas and creativity some from all the pupils who entered. However, Freya (P5) was declared our winner, with Murdo (P5) the runner up. Both are pupils at Breadalbane Academy in Aberfeldy.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West representative, said “Scotland is known for changeable and often unpredictable weather conditions. Because of this is it very important that everyone knows how to stay safe and all the measures that can help us make a long journey in poor weather conditions safer during winter.”
Mrs Seward, Primary teacher at Breadalbane Academy, said “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this competition. Their entries were really varied in style, and they made up some inventive slogans to help drivers remember to be winter ready. Freya and Murdo were delighted to have their entries selected for use in the BEAR Scotland winter campaign and the class are excited to choose some new resources for our classroom.”
Congratulations to both pupils. A prize of £150 has been sent to Primary 5 at Breadalbane Academy and we know Mrs Seward will be very proud to be teaching such budding artists.
