BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is planning to carry out essential carriageway resurfacing works on the A985 in Rosyth.
The works are expected to take place in the financial year 2025/26. Full details will be published when the programme is confirmed.
This project has been promoted through our annual monitoring process which identified that this section of the network has a low skid resistance. Resurfacing this area will improve the skid resistance, improving safety for road users.
Due to the high volume of traffic through this section of the A985 we have no option but to close the road to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public.
Parking restrictions will be in place during construction hours. However, these restrictions will be localised each night and available Parking Zones will be clearly marked, with further details provided at a later date.
Pedestrian access across the town will be maintained.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We understand that a road closure of this nature will be disruptive and have planned the works overnight when traffic flows are lower to reduce the impact of the works.
“We thank the local community for their patience whilst this essential work is being undertaken.”
Following the resurfacing works, the remaining ironwork reinstatement will take place. These works will be carried out under traffic lights with more details to follow.
Specific details surrounding these works, such as parking availability, will be shared nearer to the start date of the works.
