BEAR Scotland donated over £35k to good causes around Scotland in July, August and September 2024. We are committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate.
Cash for Kids
Over £25k of this impressive total went to BEAR’s long-term charity partner, Cash for Kids thanks to BEAR’s Annual Charity Golf Day that was held for our corporate suppliers and contractors in August. This brings the total raised for Cash for Kids in the last four years to over £73k.
Macmillan
In addition, our chosen charity of the year, Macmillan, has benefited from £4,490 over the summer months. As well as hosting coffee mornings in depots throughout the business, there was a raffle held offering a trip to the top of one of the Queensferry Crossing’s Towers at the Forth Road Bridge Doors Open Day. Two intrepid BEAR colleagues took on the Mighty Hike challenge too.
Regional charity initiative
BEAR’s focus on local and regional causes, nominated by BEAR employees, saw three charities benefit from £750 each. In the North West area it was Befrienders Highlands. In the South East it was Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary. The Coffee House in Moodiesburn was chosen in relation to our ongoing responsibility for the M80 DBFO.
Other charity donations
We also supported employees’ personal fundraising challenges with a £250 corporate donation for each of the following:
Community involvement
BEAR Scotland is committed to delivering a positive social footprint and that means supporting community initiatives as well as traditional charities.
This activity takes many forms. For instance, during July, our teams donated used road signs to Biggar Nursery and used pallets to Queensferry High School. We also sponsored the school’s participation in a Robotics Challenge. BEAR teams also erected the bunting for Queensferry Fayre.
Donations were made to various causes including:
