BEAR DONATES £9,000 TO GOOD CAUSES IN SECOND QUARTER

July 14, 2023

BEAR Scotland and its staff are continuing their commitment to giving back to communities with donations of over £9,000 to various good causes made in the second quarter of the year. This brings the total investment in 2023 to £14,000.

BEAR’s annual staff football tournament was well attended as ever and raised a total of £1,914 for SAMH.

Six BEAR staff took on personal fundraising challenges including half marathons and hill climbs which BEAR boosted with corporate donations for the likes of MS Society, Cancer Research and Tumor Support Scotland.

Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust, Tayside Cancer Support and Fresh Start Borders benefitted from our local charity initiative, which sees £1,000 donations offered to causes nominated by staff.

Community involvement

As well as helping put up the bunting for the Gala Days in Dalgety Bay and Kirkliston, we provided traffic management for the Carronvalley Motorcycle Club’s Charity Easter Egg Run that starts at the Falkirk Wheel which raises funds for CHAS.

We sponsored Fife Fryers Football Club and also donated to the Auchengeich Colliery Memorial Fund.

We also sponsored the Green Power Project at Eyemouth High School and donated litter picking equipment to Roslin Primary School.

BEAR sponsored the Berwickshire charity truck that is supporting NHS Borders charity “The

Difference”, which covers all services and health settings across the Borders.

Additional support

When a film production company offered thanks for our support for them filming at the Forth Bridges, we asked them to donate to our charity of the year. As such Tartan Bridge Films gave a £1.5k funding boost to Alzheimer Scotland.

Additionally, we linked a company-wide wellbeing ‘Steps to Health’ in May challenge to our national charity of the year Alzheimer Scotland. This raised £290.
