In the first half of 2022 BEAR Scotland has donated over £13,000 to several different charities and causes.
Some recent fundraising and charity support initiatives include:
In May employees took part in our shareholder, Eurovia’s ‘Steps to Health’ challenge, covering a total 1,976 miles between them and raising £1,000 for our staff nominated charity partner of the year, Scottish SPCA. As well as undertaking fundraising, BEAR employees have also been donating items including food, bedding, and toys within its depots and offices for distribution to Scottish SPCA centres across the country, some of which is already been used by many animals in need.
After a three-year hiatus, BEAR Scotland’s charity five-a-side football tournament returned. Teams from across the company took part to raise funds for SAMH. Over £3,700 was raised, including a very kind £2,000 donation from Highways Management (Scotland) Ltd.
We were also delighted to sponsor the Sporting Memories Foundation Awards again this year. This organisation uses the power of remembering and talking about sport to tackle dementia, depression and loneliness.
Every year we ask staff to nominate regional and local causes in the communities throughout Scotland in which we operate. So far this year this initiative seen £1,000 donations to three different projects The Caithness Broch Project and Transform (a Dundee-based homelessness charity) and Queensferry Care in the Community, which supports older people and their carers.
QCCC was nominated by BEAR Scotland’s South East Correspondence Officer, Gillian Laurie, nominated the charity due to the support they provided to her Dad. Click here to read more.
