BEAR SCOTLAND DONATED OVER £50K TO GOOD CAUSES ACROSS SCOTLAND IN 2024

December 20, 2024

Every year BEAR Scotland supports numerous organisations across Scotland.  In 2024 the leading road maintenance company supported 31 charities and 39 community groups with over £50,000 in donations within the areas it operates.

Joanna Buggy, BEAR Scotland Engagement Manager, who leads the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility team said:

“We’re really proud that BEAR has delivered over £50k to good causes in the communities in which we operate in the last twelve months. On top of that, our teams have committed volunteer hours to creating benches for nurseries, planting trees and picking litter. We’ve donated materials like used PPE jackets and electrical drums to community groups and charities too. The amount of fundraising and active community engagement from the BEAR workforce is fantastic.”

Charity focus

BEAR Scotland has four long-term charity partners, Cash for Kids, SAMH, My Name’5 Doddie and RBLI. Through various charitable initiatives, from the annual Golf Day to sponsoring staff fundraising challenges and corporate donations, more than £28,000 was donated to these causes throughout 2024.

Furthermore, Macmillan Cancer Support was voted for by BEAR staff as their Charity Partner of the Year 2024. Initiatives such as an all-staff raffle, Mighty Hike, Christmas Jumper Day, Forth Road Bridge Doors Open Day, and Macmillan’s flagship coffee mornings helped raise a total of £5,852 for the cause.

BEAR Scotland also has a Regional Charity Initiative that allows staff to nominate smaller charities and causes, local to communities where BEAR operates to receive £750 each. The eight charities supported in 2024 were:

  • Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity
  • Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary
  • Border Water Rescue Team
  • Moodiesburn Coffee House
  • The Reconnection Project
  • Befrienders Highland
  • Highland and Islands Blood Bikes
  • Munlochy Animal Aid
