BEAR Scotland is supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023, to show the positive impact work-based learning has on young people as well as our business, and the local and national economy.
This year’s theme is “Unlocking Potential”, with the aim of showcasing what individuals and employers can achieve through apprenticeships. By unlocking potential and providing the skills employers want, apprenticeships support sustained employment, upskilling and a productive economy. At BEAR, we are currently training twelve apprentices. We offer opportunities for Modern and Graduate apprentices, working with colleges and universities such as Edinburgh College, Abertay University and Napier University. Our apprentices join over 43,000 apprentices and 12,000 businesses benefitting from opportunities across the country.
BEAR Scotland Managing Director, Iain Murray said: “I am delighted that through the apprenticeships we offer at BEAR, we are helping open up opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds and abilities to gain and develop skills that will support them throughout their life and in work. The mentors we put it place can help our apprentices realise their potential and it also benefits BEAR, as we are developing a workforce that supports the skills we need for the future of the company.”
To apply for an apprenticeship at BEAR Scotland, please send your CV, specifying you are interested in an apprenticeship, to recruitment@bearscotland.co.uk.

CASE STUDY
Robert Hill is a Graduate Apprentice in the South East Planned Maintenance North team, based at Burghmuir.
“I found out about apprenticeships at BEAR through a friend, while I was at university. I didn’t enjoy the university environment, so an apprenticeship is better for me than full-time study.
“The experience you get through an apprenticeship is what is most sought after in the working world. Also, earning as you learn is a big benefit. You can gain all this while working towards a degree – you get the same degree as full time students at university, but with the benefits of being paid for it.
“The level of responsibility you are given is good. I was given my own scheme just a couple of months into starting with BEAR. I get plenty of mentoring and the feeling from doing this type of work is great, especially when you are new to being in a working environment.
“BEAR has supported me every step of the way since I started here. I have a great team helping me develop and learn. They’re always ready to lend a hand when I need it, as well as give me time for my university studies..
“I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone looking to start out in their careers.”
