BLACK ISLE ANIMAL RESCUE RECEIVES £750 FROM BEAR SCOTLAND

October 31, 2024

Munlochy Animal Aid has received a £750 funding boost from BEAR Scotland to continue their efforts to rescue and rehome animals from across the Highlands.
BEAR Scotland manage and maintain the trunk road network on behalf of Transport Scotland in the North West, covering the A9 and A835 which run through the area the charity operates in.
The family-run charity based in the Black Isle was founded 45-years ago by Iona Nicol and her animal-loving family. From rabbits to horses, they rescue all kinds of animals that have been abandoned or neglected, providing a loving and caring environment.
Munlochy Animal Aid also work hard to ensure every animal in their care is rehomed to a good, safe home by working hard in the local area to raise awareness, promoting responsible and compassionate pet ownership through educational talks.
Duncan MacKnight, BEAR Scotland North West Bridges Technician, nominated Munlochy Animal Aid through the BEAR Scotland Regional Charity Initiative that allows all staff to nominate a charity within the network in which they operate.
Duncan said: “We were one of many families who got a lockdown dog in late 2020 and have loved the experience of watching her grow from a puppy to a fully grown dog. It’s clear that many animals don’t get that chance in life to be loved by a family and often end up in shelters. Munlochy does an important job by looking after these animals, keeping them fit and healthy, and offering them a new chance at life with a new family.”
Once an animal leaves the care of Munlochy Animal Aid, they don’t stop caring and work hard to help all animals in their local area by helping families pay for emergency veterinary bills and donating pet food to local foodbanks.
Iona Nicol, Munlochy Animal Aid founder said: “Our costs have gone up massively in the last year just to keep our lights on. We rely on donations of all sizes and are extremely grateful for any and all donations. We are the busiest we have ever been.”
