Works will commence on Tuesday 16 July for three days, 8am to 6pm
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential bridge maintenance works at the An Aird pedestrian bridge which crosses the River Nevis north of the Fort William Shinty Club linking to Inverlochy. As well as structural maintenance to the pedestrian bridge, the works will also involve the removal of graffiti, so improving the overall safety and look of the area.
The works are set to start on Tuesday 16 July and be completed by Thursday 18 July. Working hours are 08:00 to 18:00 to minimise any noise disturbance to local residents.
A dedicated footway will be provided to ensure the safety of all pedestrians whilst the works are being carried out.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the proposed improvements to make them aware of what the works will entail and to advise of what emergency access provision will be made available, should this be needed.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can. We thank the local community and other pedestrians for their patience in advance while we complete this essential improvement project. As the pedestrian bridge is remote from the A82 trunk road, through traffic will not be impacted.”
