The southbound carriageway of the M80 will be closed at Junction 9 Pirnhall between 20:00 and 06:00 overnight on the night of Thursday 31 October. The closure is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, to remove the temporary safety barriers and materials that were needed for parapet replacement works on two bridges carrying the motorway.
A signed diversion route for southbound traffic will be in place via the slip road to Pirnhall Roundabout, from where road users can continue onto the M80 via the southbound on-slip. This will add an estimated 0.4 miles and one minute to affected journeys.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland Unit Bridges Manager, said: “It’s essential for the safety of road users and our workforce that we close the M80 southbound carriageway between the roads at Junction 9 while we carry out these works.
“The closures will only be in place at night and the diversion is a short one, so we don’t expect this to cause significant delays.”
Relevant stakeholders including emergency services have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the works.
