The slip road onto the westbound M8 at Junction 4 Whitburn will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the night of Monday 4 December, to allow BEAR Scotland to carry out carriageway investigations on behalf of Transport Scotland.
A diversion route for traffic wishing to join the M8 westbound at Junction 4 will be signposted via the A706 and the B7066 to M8 Junction 4A Heartlands, adding an estimated 3.2 miles and 7 minutes to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We thank road users in advance for their patience while we carry out this essential carriageway investigation in advance of future resurfacing works.
“A slip road closure is essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.uk or on Twitter/X at @trafficscotland.
