Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, is set to carry out carriageway resurfacing works on the M8 eastbound mainline carriageway from Junction 4A Heartland to Junction 4 Whitburn.
The M8 mainline carriageway will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Friday 30 August until Thursday 5 September. No works will take place on weekend nights.
A diversion route for traffic travelling on the M8 eastbound will be signposted via the B7066, A706 and A801 following signs for the M8 Junction 4 Whitburn. This will add an estimated 3.2 miles and seven minutes to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We thank road users in advance for their patience while we carry out these essential carriageway resurfacing works.
“The M8 eastbound road closure is essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users. However, we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
