Road users travelling on the A887 will benefit from a more durable and resilient road surface as BEAR Scotland get set to carry out surfacing improvements on behalf of Transport Scotland. The works are required to address defects in the existing road surface and to improve road markings.
Works are due to take from Monday 24 February until Friday 28 February between the hours of 9am and 7pm each day. Traffic management will be removed outwith these hours, however a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A887, traffic will be diverted via the A82 and A87 for the duration of the works to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. Signage will direct eastbound traffic via the A87 southbound to Invergarry, A82 northbound to Invermoriston, then back onto the A887 to their destination. Traffic travelling westbound will be directed via the A82 southbound to Invergarry, A87 northbound to Bun Loyne, then rejoining the A887.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users as well as upgrading road markings to enhance visibility. We thank road users for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
