DRAINAGE REPAIRS FOR A9 AT DRUMOCHTER DUALS

August 2, 2024

  • Drainage repair works to start on Monday 12 August for up to six weeks

  • Night time lane closure on southbound carriageway

BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to start essential drainage repair works on the A9 southbound dual carriageway located at Drumochter just south of Dalnaspidal. Works begin at 7pm on Monday 12 August and will continue for up to six weeks.

These comprehensive drainage repair works will enhance road conditions and safety for road users over a two mile stretch of the A9 dual carriageway. Works will be carried out overnight from 7pm to 6am each night to minimise disruption.

To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, one lane of the southbound carriageway will be closed during working hours.  A reduced speed limit will be in place on the approach to, and through, the work site. These temporary traffic management measures will be removed outwith working hours.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This crucial drainage repair project along the A9 will fix existing defects, improving the operation of the roadside drains and significantly enhance the driving experience for all road users.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that road users plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
