DRAINAGE WORKS ON M8 EASTBOUND PRIOR TO JUNCTION 4A

July 1, 2024

  • Overnight lane closures for two weeks, commencing 22 July 2024

A series of overnight lane closures is planned on the M8 while BEAR Scotland conducts drainage repairs on the motorway between Junctions 5 and 4A eastbound.

The works will commence on Monday 22 July and continue for two weeks. For the safety of workers and road users, the following closures will be in place between 20:30 and 06:30 each night, on Mondays to Fridays only:

  • 22 July to 23 July – Lane 2 closed in both directions between Junctions 5 and 4A
  • 23 July to 3 August – Lane 1 closure between Junction 5 and 4A eastbound.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These repairs will improve the performance of the existing drainage pipework and reduce the possibility of flooding within the area.

“We’ve scheduled the works at night to avoid causing disruption. We don’t expect these works to cause any significant delays.”
