BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s road operating company, is set to start essential surfacing and road marking improvements on the A9 northbound dual carriageway at the B851 Fort Augustus junction, near Inverness.
The works will take place over seven nights from Monday 29 April to Friday 10 May between 7pm and 6am. No works will take place between Friday 3 May to Monday 6 May.
To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, 24 Hour Lane Closures will be implemented on the northbound carriageway during the surfacing works. A convoy system will be implemented at night along with a southbound lane two closure for safety.
The southbound Fort Augustus right turn lane and the access from the B851 junction will be manned during the night.
Motorists wishing to access the B851 from the southbound Fort Augustus right turn lane and motorists wishing to join the northbound or southbound carriageway from the B851 Fort Augustus Junction will be led through the closure when safe to do so by a Traffic Management operative.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
