Leading roads company BEAR Scotland has donated £1,000 on behalf of all staff to Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, as well as a raft of pet toys, food and blankets donated by staff.
The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home is the fifth charity this year to benefit from a new initiative launched by BEAR Scotland which focuses on supporting local and regional causes across the country in communities where BEAR operates. Staff from all areas of BEAR Scotland were invited to nominate local charities which were most important to them.
Louise Thompson, Insurance Co-ordinator, and Sam McMillan, Fleet Supervisor, both nominated the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.
Sam McMillan said: “Every Christmas we round up our dog’s old toys, covers and jumpers and take them down to the EDCH who are always very grateful for our donations. We always give a financial donation too. Having visited the home, I know how important ongoing support is to helping them look after dogs and cats who are seeking for their forever homes. That’s why I nominated EDCH for as a local charity for BEAR to support.”
Both Louise and Sam visited the charity to drop off the boxes of pet toys, food, blankets that had been collected by BEAR employees around the country.
Karlyn Robertson, Development Manager at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home said: “I can’t thank you enough for the ongoing support that the team at BEAR have given to the Home. £1,000 is enough to provide all entry vaccinations to 60 dogs that come to our door, or to feed 33 cats for two months. And the gifts that you have been collecting will go a long, long way in helping our animals to be kept warm, safe and healthy whilst they stay with us.”
