BEAR Scotland, the operating company working on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking emergency carriageway repair works on the A9 northbound carriageway between Bankfoot and Birnam, requiring a 24-hour lane closure from Wednesday 27 November. Works are anticipated to continue until the weekend.
The northbound lane closure is required to repair a section of the dual carriageway where a bridge carries traffic over the railway line. A recent inspection of the site identified a fault at one of the expansion joints on the bridge. This has been temporarily repaired and inspected by our bridges engineers and requires urgent attention to ensure the ongoing safe operation of this section of the A9 trunk road.
To protect the workforce and road users, a lane closure will be in place until the repair works are complete.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said “These works are urgently required to ensure the ongoing safety of road users.
“Every effort will be made to complete the works and fully reopen the road as quickly and safely as possible.”
