ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE FOR A82 DUBH EAS BRIDGE, NORTH OF INVERARNAN

October 6, 2023

  • Works start on Monday 9 October 2023 for 6 weeks.

Essential maintenance work is set to be conducted on the A82 Dubh Eas bridge that carries the A82 over a watercourse, around a mile north of Inverarnan. The essential maintenance work will start on Monday 9 October lasting for six weeks, weather dependant.

The project will involve removal and replacement of all surfacing and bridge deck waterproofing, together with concrete repairs and upgrades to the bridge drainage system. These works are being carried out to maintain the structure and ensure that further, more extensive repairs are avoided in later years.

The A82 carriageway will be reduced to one lane over the bridge under temporary traffic lights for the duration of the works, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This will allow teams safe access and ensure they remain protected during the work. Some safety critical activities will require the use of a convoy system over the bridge for a total of 4 days.

Access to emergency services will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This essential maintenance project will see this bridge on the A82 fully refurbished with new waterproofing and surfacing, such that it is able to operate safely for years to come.
