ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE FOR A835 ARDCHARNICH BRIDGE, ULLAPOOL
Essential maintenance works began on the A835 Ardcharnich Bridge today (Monday 20 February). They will continue for 13 weeks, taking place between 7.30am and 6pm each day, including weekends.
The works are being carried out by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, to maintain the bridge and improve drivers’ safety. They will include removing and replacing all surfacing and bridge deck waterproofing; concrete repairs; widening the road across the bridge; upgrading the bridge parapets and installing vehicle safety barriers.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place 24 hours a day for the duration of the project, with a convoy system required at times during the working day to ensure workers’ safety.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This project will see Ardcharnich Bridge on the A835 fully refurbished with new surfacing and bridge deck waterproofing; concrete repairs; widening the road across the bridge; upgrading the bridge parapets and installing vehicle safety barriers. These upgrades will ensure the longevity of the bridge and allow it to operate safely for years to come.”
