BEAR Scotland will be undertaking essential maintenance works from Wednesday 27 March to Saturday 30 March 2024 on the A82 Kiachnish Bridge, located on Achintore road approximately four miles south of Fort William. The works will involve replacing two expansion joints on top of the bridge, as a continuation to works which started in January but had to be postponed due to poor weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, a convoy traffic management system will be in place from 10pm to 6am each night, as the maximum lane width available will be 2.75m. The road will be fully reopened for two-way traffic during the day.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s NW Representative said: “We are committed to maintaining the North West’s trunk road infrastructure and as we undertake essential maintenance works on the A82 Kiachnish Bridge, safety remains our priority. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the public, and we aim to minimise disruption while delivering necessary improvements to this vital route.”
Consultation is taking place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
