BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s North West trunk road operating company, is set to start essential bridge maintenance works from Monday 25 March until Saturday 30 March 2024 on the A87 at Garbh Dhoire Bridge, located 10 miles west of Invergarry.
The works entail replacing two bridge expansion joints. Due to the nature of the works, and for the safety of workers and the travelling public, the road will be fully closed between 10pm and 6am each night.
During the five-night works programme, a full closure of the bridge is required to ensure safety for roadworkers and motorists. A signed diversion will therefore be in place that runs from the A82 and A87 junction near Invergarry to the A87 and A887 junction near Bun Loyne adding. The diversion will add an extra 28 miles and 38 minutes to journey times.
Emergency services and local residents will be able to pass through the works at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West representative said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their patience whilst these essential works are undertaken. We will do our best to minimise any delays during the works.”
