ESSENTIAL UNDERPASS REPAIRS PLANNED ON THE A835 AT SILVERBRIDGE

January 7, 2025

  • Essential repair works to the south underpass beneath A835 from Monday 13 January

  • Temporary footpath closure

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out essential repairs on the A835, at Silverbridge, two miles north of Garve, from Monday 13 January.

The works will involve concrete repairs to the retaining wall at the south underpass beneath the A835 trunk road which supports the public footpath. Drainage improvements and general repairs to the existing pedestrian guardrail will also be carried out.

Traffic lights will be in place for a short period for one day only to allow for site set-up. No traffic management is anticipated on the trunk road outwith this time, however a temporary closure of the footpath will be in place 24 hours a day from approximately 8am on Monday 13 January. The pathway is due to reopen by 6pm on Sunday 26 January.

Public access to local facilities will be maintained along the core path between Little Garve and Silverbridge via the north underpass with pedestrian river crossings available at Silverbridge and Little Garve.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the works to make them aware of the footpath closure arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said “The wall repair and drainage improvements at Silverbridge will ensure the underpass remains safe for walkers and local residents.

“Our teams will carry out these works quickly, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community for their patience while we complete the improvements”.
