FENCING WORKS ON THE M8 EASTBOUND

March 15, 2024

  • Hard shoulder closure for six weeks, commencing 1 April 2024

Trunk road operating company BEAR Scotland is to replace over 1,000 metres of boundary fence on the eastbound M8 between Junctions 3 and 2, in an investment by Transport Scotland worth £87,000.

The works will begin on Monday 1 April and are expected to continue for six weeks. Work will take place between 07:30 and 15:30 from Monday to Friday.

For the safety of workers and road users during the works, the hard shoulder on a section of the M8 eastbound between Junctions 3 and 2 will be continually closed from 1 April to 10 May, or until the works are completed.

To reduce the project’s environmental impact, all existing fencing materials will be recycled.

Stakeholders including local landowners affected by the works have been contacted and informed of the scheme details in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It’s essential for safety that we close the hard shoulder on this section of the eastbound M8 while fencing replacement works take place, however we don’t expect this to cause any delays for traffic using the motorway.”
