Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to install road drainage improvements at Kilbagie as it reaches the final stages of the upgrades to the trunk road network in the area that have been underway for the last few months.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Kilbagie Roundabout and on the approach to the roundabout from the A876 between 20:00 on Friday 21 April and 06:00 on Monday 24 April to allow the new drainage system to be installed.
This project marks a final stage in improvements in the area which involve the widening of the nearby A977 road widening which has seen lane closures and temporary traffic lights in place between 19:30 and 06:30 on weeknights since October.
The programme of works is scheduled to conclude before the end of April with final element such as snagging and lighting column installation being undertaken once the drainage is installed.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland South East Network Manager, said: “We appreciate that the improvements in this area have been ongoing for some time and are pleased to advise that the drainage scheme brings us closer to concluding the enhancements. We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding while the works have been carried out.
“It is necessary to close one lane of the A876 at Kilbagie roundabout under temporary traffic lights while we carry out the drainage enhancements for the safety of the workforce and the travelling public. This is being done over a weekend to reduce the impact. We’ll then get the final stages of the widening works, including lighting column upgrades completed before the end of April. These will be done under the existing overnight lane restrictions.”
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
All work is weather dependent.
