UPDATE: These works have been temporarily suspended over the weekend of 9-12 September. No further works will take place until at least the night of Tuesday 13 September.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A1 at Thorntonloch from 21 August until 6 October, while improvements are made to 1,000 metres of footway between No 11 Thorntonloch Holdings and the junction with Thornton and Crowhill.
An alternative route for pedestrians will be signposted during the works.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These footway improvements will enhance safety and ease of access for pedestrians using this section of the A1.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience.”
