BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to undertake improvements on the A82 at Stuckgowan, situated between Luss and Tarbet. These drainage and road resurfacing works, costing £110,000, will commence on Sunday 20 August and extend over five nights, from 7pm to 5am. All scheduled work is expected to conclude by 5am on Friday 25 August, depending on weather conditions.
Throughout the project, the layby in the area will be closed. A safety barrier will also be in place along the adjacent footpath. Pedestrians and cyclists will have brief waiting periods during excavation works, after which they will be guided safely through the area. These precautions will ensure the safety of both the workforce and the public whilst the works are carried out.
The following traffic management arrangements will be in place:
Sunday 20 August: There will be a lane closure controlled by temporary traffic signals during work hours. This will be removed outside work times.
Monday 21 August-Friday 25 August: Between 7pm and 5am, there will be a convoy system with a speed limit of 10 mph. Outside these times, the convoy system will be removed and there will be a speed limit of 30 mph due to the temporary road surface.
Emergency services will have access through the works site at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “These enhancements to the A82 will improve surface water drainage and replace a section of worn out road surface. Our team will work hard to finish the job safely and quickly, and we thank the local community and road users for their patient. Before you start your journey, please check the Traffic Scotland website for the latest updates.”
