IMPROVEMENTS FOR A84 IN CALLANDER

September 27, 2023

  • Preliminary Works scheduled from 2-6 October
  • Footway Improvements scheduled from 9-27 October
  • Carriageway Resurfacing scheduled from 30 October-23 November

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to undertake improvements on the A84 through Callander, situated between Lagrannoch Cresent and Leny Feus. These preliminary drainage works, road resurfacing works and footway improvements, costing £460,000, will commence on Monday 2 October and last just over six weeks. All scheduled work is expected to conclude by Thursday 23 November, depending on weather conditions.

Throughout the projects, access to properties will be maintained, however there may be times when access is temporary restricted due to the nature of the works and to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public. When access is restricted, a member of the site team will contact those affected to advise of the specific access arrangements in place while these works are carried out.

Safety barriers will also be in place along the footpaths. Pedestrians and cyclists will have brief waiting periods during excavation works, after which they will be guided safely through the area or shown to the suitable diversion route. These precautions will ensure the safety of both the workforce and the public whilst the works are carried out.

The following traffic management arrangements will be in place:

  • Preliminary Drainage Works (Main Street to Leny Fues) – Monday 2 October – Friday 6 October: There will be a lane closure controlled by temporary traffic signals during work hours (8am to 5pm). This will be removed outside work times.
  • Footway Improvements (Various locations) – Monday 9 October – Friday 27 October: There will be a lane closure controlled by temporary traffic signals. A signed pedestrian diversion route will be in place as works progress at each location. This will be in place 24 hours per day.
  • Carriageway Resurfacing (Main Street & Ancaster Square to Leny Fues) – Monday 30 October – Thursday 23 November 2023: There will be a lane closure controlled by temporary traffic signals and a 10mph Convoy System during work hours (5pm to 2am). This will be removed outside work times.

Diverson Routes

Local signed diversion routes will be required as carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken adjacent to the following side roads:

  • Cross Street – diversion via North Church Street and Glenartney Road, (06/11 & 13/11).
