The slip road onto the eastbound M8 at Junction 4 Whitburn will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the night of Tuesday 4 July, to allow BEAR Scotland to install traffic loops on behalf of Transport Scotland.
A diversion route for traffic wishing to join the M8 eastbound at Junction 4 will be signposted via the M8 westbound carriageway to turn at Junction 4A, adding an estimated 4.3 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “The installation of these traffic loops will ensure traffic data is accurately recorded on this section of the M8.
“A slip road closure is essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot or on Twitter at @trafficscotland.
