The slip road onto the northbound A1 at Dolphingstone Junction will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of Tuesday 22 August, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out investigation works in preparation for resurfacing next year.
A signed diversion route will be in place for road users wishing to join the northbound A1 at Dolphingstone, directing traffic via the A199 and A6094 to join the A1 at Wallyford Junction. This diversion will add an estimated 0.5 miles and 4 minutes to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We need to close this slip road overnight so that we can investigate the condition of the road surface in advance of resurfacing works scheduled for 2024.
“If you need to use this route on the night of 22 August, our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.”
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot, or on Twitter at @trafficscotland.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
