INVESTIGATION WORKS ON A985 ADMIRALTY ROUNDABOUT

  • Overnight slip road closures from 6 November 2023

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to carry out coring investigation works to assess the condition of A985 Admiralty Roundabout, commencing on the night of Monday 6 November.

To allow these works to be carried out safely, it is necessary to close the roundabout overnight from 20:30 until 06:00. Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place as detailed below.

M90 NB Diversion

  • Head north on M90
  • At junction 2, take the A823(M) exit to Dunfermline
  • At Pitreavie Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Queensferry Rd/B980
  • At the roundabout, continue straight onto King’s Rd
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Admiralty Rd/A985
  • For A921 follow the A985 Diversion route then the A921 Diversion

Diversion Length: 2.5 miles

Diversion Time: 5 minutes

M90 SB Diversion

  • Head south on M90
  • At junction 1B, take the B981 exit to Port of Rosyth/N.Queensferry
  • Follow the B980 for Rosyth or B981 Inverkeithing

Diversion Length: 1.0 miles

Diversion Time: 2 minutes

A985 Diversion

  • Head west on Admiralty Rd/A985
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Castle Rd
  • At the roundabout, continue straight to stay on Castle Rd
  • At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Millennium Ave
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Barham Rd and continue onto Milne Rd
  • Take the first exit for the M90 NB, second exit for A921 and third exit for M90 SB

Diversion Length: 2.7 miles

Diversion Time: 6 minutes

A921 Diversion

  • Head south on B981 following signs for Queensferry.
  • Enter Ferrytoll Jct
  • Take the first exit for M90 SB, second exit for A985, and third exit for M90 NB

Diversion Length: 1.1 miles

Diversion Time: 3 minutes

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These coring investigation works will allow us to assess the condition of these slip roads on the A985 in advance of future resurfacing.

“If you need to use these routes at night over the next few weeks, our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey if necessary.

“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their understanding.”
