The slip road onto the M8 westbound at Junction 4A Heartlands will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Thursday 26 and Friday 27 September, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out investigations into the condition of the road in advance of future resurfacing.
A diversion route for traffic wishing to join the M8 westbound will be in place via the M8 eastbound to turn and join the westbound carriageway at Junction 4 Whitburn, adding an estimated 4.3 miles and 4 minutes to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We thank road users in advance for their patience while we carry out this essential carriageway investigation in advance of future resurfacing works.
“A full slip road closure is essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
