Coring investigation works are planned on the M80 southbound carriageway after the slip road from the M876 at Junction 8, Bankhead, between 19:30 and 06:00 on the nights of Thursday 7 and Friday 8 November
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users during these works, the westbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed after Junction 1, Checkbar, and a lane and hard shoulder closure will be in place on the M80 southbound.
A signed diversion route will be in place for westbound traffic on the M876 wishing to join the M80, via the A883 and the A803 to M80 Junction 7, Haggs. This diversion will add approximately 5.8 miles and 11 minutes to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close this section of carriageway while works take place.
“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause delays for some people and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
