Transport Scotland’s trunk road operating company BEAR Scotland is set to make improvements to the A9 at The Mound, which crosses the head of Loch Fleet near Golspie.
The £161,000 project will start on Monday 19 June and is scheduled to take place over ten days between 7am and 7pm, excluding Saturday and Sunday. Works are anticipated to be completed by 7pm on Friday 30 June, subject to weather conditions.
Layby kerbs will be replaced and a 757m section of road will be resurfaced, replacing the worn-out carriageway.
To keep roadworkers and motorists safe during working hours, a 10mph convoy system will be in place.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A9 at The Mound will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.
“The use of convoy traffic management during working hours is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
