A newly-completed temporary link road at M80 Junction 9 will open to traffic at 06:00 on Tuesday 13 August, providing access from the M80 northbound to Pirnhall Roundabout and Stirling Services while the main slip road remains closed due to subsidence.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland has constructed the 100-metre long link road over the past two weeks, bypassing the area where subsidence has occurred.
To allow final works to be completed, the M80 northbound carriageway will be closed at Junction 8 between 20:30 and 06:00 tonight. A diversion route will be signposted via the M876 to M9 Junction 9, adding an estimated ten miles and eleven minutes to affected journeys.
Once the temporary link road opens, a series of reduced speed limits will be enforced by Police Scotland average speed cameras over a three-kilometre stretch of the M80 northbound, due to tighter than normal bends in the layout of the temporary link road.
Occasional lane closures will also be required to allow the longer-term repair of the main slip road to progress.

“We appreciate that the closure of this slip road has caused some inconvenience and disruption. This should now be eased while ground investigations and the design and construction of a long-term repair are completed.
“We’re grateful to road users for their patience and understanding.”
