M80 OVERNIGHT CARRIAGEWAY CLOSURES FOR ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE WORKS

Overnight works to take place for ten nights between 8pm and 6am each night from Monday 9 May

 

 

A series of overnight lane and carriageway closures on the M80 and M73 are set to get underway from Monday 9 May so teams can safely carry out essential maintenance works.

The carriageway closures are required to ensure roadworkers as well as motorists are kept safe during the essential maintenance works and will allow a number of different activities to be carried out at the same time.

The works will involve inspections, LED lighting upgrade works, street lighting works and cyclic maintenance duties including carriageway sweeping, litter picking and general inspections to ensure the motorway remains in a safe working condition.

Starting from Monday 9 May, the works are set to take place each night from 8pm to 6am as follows:

 

  • Monday 9 May
    • M80 northbound from Junction 3 Hornshill to the M80/M73 merge
    • M80 northbound on-slip Junction 3 Hornshill

 

  • Tuesday 10 May
    • M80 northbound from Junction 4 Westfield to Junction 5 Auchenkilns
    • M73 northbound from Junction 3 Mollinsburn to the M73/M80 merge
    • M73 northbound on-slip Junction 3 Mollinsburn

 

  • Wednesday 11 May
    • M80 northbound from Junction 4a Low Wood to Junction 6 Old Inns
    • M80 northbound on-slip Junction 5 Auchenkilns

 

  • Thursday 12 May
    • M80 northbound from Junction 4A Low Wood to Junction 7 Haggs
    • M80 northbound on-slip Junction 5 Auchenkilns
    • M80 northbound on-slip Junction 6 Old Inns
    • M80 northbound on-slip Junction 6a Castlecary

 

  • Friday 13 May
    • M80 southbound from Junction 5 Auchenkilns to Junction 4 Westfield
    • M80 southbound on-slip Junction 5 Auchenkilns
    • M80 Southbound on-slip Junction 4a Low Wood

 

  • Monday 16 May
    • M80 southbound from the M73/M80 diverge to Junction 3 Hornshill
    • M80 southbound on-slip Junction 4 Westfield

 

  • Tuesday 17 May
    • M73 southbound from M73/M80 merge (J4) to J3

 

  • Wednesday 18 May
    • M80 southbound from Junction 6 Old Inns to Junction 4a Low Wood
    • M80 southbound on-slip Junction 6 Old Inns

 

  • Thursday 19 May
    • M80 southbound from Junction 7 Haggs to Junction 6 Old Inns
    • M80 southbound on-slip Junction 7 Haggs

 

  • Friday 20 May
    • M80 northbound and southbound from Junction 2 Robroyston to Junction 3 Hornshill (lane closures)

 

Signed diversions will be in place each night as required. There will be no restrictions to traffic during the day out with these times.

Commenting on the works, Carnie Morrison, Highway Management (Scotland) Limited General Manager, said: “These essential maintenance works will help ensure the M80 and M73 Motorways will be kept in a safe condition for road users. The works are being carried out overnight to minimise delays to motorists as much as possible.

“The planned carriageway closures are required to ensure  that both our teams as well as all road users are kept safe during the essential maintenance works, however teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

“We encourage all motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”
