Updated 14 April 2025: Due to roadwork delays elsewhere on the A9, contraflow set up on Findhorn Bridge will now start on Friday 25 April. Please see new dates below in red.
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out essential maintenance work on the northbound carriageway of the A9 over Findhorn Bridge near Tomatin.
The works will involve concrete repairs, replacing the bridge deck waterproofing, kerb replacement, drainage improvements and resurfacing the road. These works are being carried out to repair defects in the road surfacing.
These maintenance works start on Monday 28 April for around eight weeks.
To ensure the safety of both road users and the workforce, this dual carriageway section of the A9 will be reduced to one lane in each direction over the bridge. Cross-over points either side of the bridge will divert northbound traffic into a 30mph contraflow traffic management system on the southbound carriageway for the full duration of the works.
To establish the contraflow, there will be various traffic management setups on both the northbound and southbound carriageways from Friday 25 April until the works commence on Monday 28 April.
Recovery vehicles will be on site whilst the contraflow system is in place to prevent delays from broken down vehicles or any incidents that may occur.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “These essential works on Findhorn Bridge will deal with developing road surface issues on the bridge.”
“Our teams are committed to completing this essential maintenance works as quickly and safely as possible. We thank all road users and the local community for their patience in advance.
“Please plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date journey information and leave some extra time to complete journeys.”
