MEDIA UPDATE: RESURFACING THE A828 NORTH OF APPIN

July 12, 2023

  • Overnight road closures on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 July
  • One section of resurfacing works postponed

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 1700m of the A828 North of Appin.

Due to delays on current works, a section of the resurfacing south of the Highland boundary has been postponed. Works will still take place south of Portnacroish and north of Appin bends.

The works will now take place over two nights between 7pm and 7am.

Works will take place on the A828 South of Portnacroish overnight on Sunday 23 July for one night. Works on the A828 North of Appin Bends will take place overnight on Monday 24 July for one night.

Due to the narrow road width in these sections of the A828, it will be closed overnight in both directions between Appin and Portnacroish to keep workers and road users safe. Waiting vehicles will be escorted safely through the site at amnesty periods of 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am. Emergency service vehicles will have access at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users. We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
