Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to carry out essential impronvements to National Cycle Network Route 7 (NCN7) near Dalnaspidal. A 2.6km section between Dalnaspidal and Dalwhinnie, adjacent to the A9, will be resurfaced. The project will take place from Wednesday 13 March for ten days, with works taking place between 7am and 6pm each day. No works will take place on Saturdays or Sundays.
Due to the nature of the works, to protect roadworkers and non-motorised users, the cycleway will be closed during working hours. Operatives will be on hand to escort cyclists wishing to travel north or south, but members of the public are asked to avoid the area whilst the works are taking place. For the safety of motorists, a 30mph speed restriction will be in place on the A9 at Dalnaspidal for the duration of the works.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These essential upgrades will see a great improvement to the national cycle network by increasing comfort and safety for users.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the cycling community and path users for their patience in advance while we complete these works.”
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
