Works start Monday 4 October for six weeks

A new £60,000 road safety and active travel project is to be progressed on the A82 at Alltsigh with works set to get underway next week.

The project will involve the installation of approximately 80 metres of new footway adjacent to the northbound carriageway of the A82, between the forest access at the Great Glen Way to a point opposite the Lochside Hostel, greatly improving pedestrian access and safety. The new footway will also connect the northbound and southbound bus stops in Alltsigh providing safer access to public transport.  In addition, works will also be undertaken to upgrade the drainage system, and new safety barriers and road signs will be installed in the area.

The project is set to begin on Monday 4 October and is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and road users, temporary traffic lights and a 30mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the project.  Temporary pedestrian routing will also be implemented to maintain safe access through the site.

BEAR Scotland has engaged with all relevant stakeholders to inform them of the project and share information about the traffic management arrangements that will be in place to facilitate its construction.
