BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out essential drainage investigation works on the A86 Trunk Road at Auchmore, between Newtonmore and Laggan, with works set to get underway on Thursday 26 October.
The project is scheduled to take place over two nights, from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 October, between 8pm and 6am each night. All works are anticipated to be completed by 6am on Saturday 28 October.
Due to the nature of the works, a road closure with diversions will be implemented each night during working hours, to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public, which is of paramount importance.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
A local diversion route will be signed. Eastbound will be diverted via A889 south of Laggan junction and onto the A9 northbound st south of Dalwhinnie junction before rejoining the A86 at the junction for Kingussie if needed. Westbound will be diverted southbound on the A9 until A889 south of Dalwhinnie junction until A889/A86 south of Laggan junction.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These essential works on the A86 will assess the condition of the drainage assets and identify if further works are required to improve the drainage system.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these works. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
