NIGHT TIME ESSENTIAL SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED ON THE A82 GLENCOE, SOUTH OF THREE WATERS

August 12, 2024

Update: Due to no work being undertaken over the bank holiday weekend (20 – 23 September), surfacing improvements at A82 Glencoe, South of Three Waters will now be completed by the morning of Friday 27 September.

  • Works begin on Monday 9 September until morning of Friday 27 September

  • Overnight road closure

Road users travelling on the A82 in Glencoe, south of The Meeting of Three Waters, will benefit from an improved road surface as resurfacing works set to be carried out next month by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland.
The improvements will involve resurfacing the road to make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather. The works are required to address deteriorating road surface conditions as well as improve road markings.
The works are programmed for construction from Monday 9 September, with the road reopening on the morning of Friday 27 September when all works are complete. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 5am each night and there will be no works on Friday or Saturday nights.
Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A82, the carriageway will be closed to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. The A82 will therefore be closed in both directions each night between 7pm and 5am with amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely. A diversion is also available via the A85 and A828.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of  the works.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users as well as upgrading road markings. We thank road users for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
