Overnight road closure in place from Tuesday 3 September until 7am on Friday 6 September
Road users travelling on the A82 will benefit from an improved road surface as resurfacing works are set to be carried out later this month by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland.
The improvements will involve resurfacing the road to make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as providing a safer road for road users. The works are required to address deteriorating road surface conditions as well as improving road markings.
The works are due to start from Tuesday 3 September to the morning of Friday 6 September with no works taking place on Friday or Saturday evenings. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night. Outwith these hours, traffic management will be removed however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A82, it is necessary to close the carriageway to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. The A82 will therefore be closed in both directions each night between 7pm and 7am. During periods of closure, amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained throughout the works. A diversion is also available via the A85 and A828 for those who do not wish to wait for amnesty.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users as well as upgrading road markings to enhance road safety.
“We thank road users for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
