Road users travelling on the A87 will benefit from an improved road surface as resurfacing works get underway from Monday 7 October.
These works will make the road more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as providing a safer road surface. Upgraded road markings will also provide improved visibility for road users.
The works are due to start on Monday 7 October and will continue until the morning of Saturday 19 October. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night. Traffic management will be removed outwith these hours however, a 30mph speed limit will be in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Unfortunately, due to restricted road widths through this section of the A87, the carriageway will be closed in both directions from 7pm to 7am each night to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. Amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely. Access through the site for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users as well as upgrading road markings to enhance visibility. We thank road users for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
