NIGHT TIME RESURFACING ON A87 NORTH OF BORVE

March 17, 2025

Updated 7 April 2025: Please note, works will now be carried out between 7pm and 5am. Please see new time below in red.

  • Works begin on Wednesday 23 April for three nights

  • Overnight road closure with amnesties until the morning of Saturday 26 April

Road users will benefit from an improved road surface as BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, gets set to carry out resurfacing works on the A87 on Skye, at Annishader, North of Borve.

Starting from Wednesday 23 April, works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 5am each night, finishing on the morning of Saturday 26 April.

In order to protect the public and road workers, the A87 will be closed in both directions each night between 7pm and 5am. During periods of closure, amnesties will be available at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely.

Access to and from the Tote Junction between the A87 and the B8036 will also be accessible under amnesty during working hours.

Traffic management measures will be removed outwith working hours, however a reduced speed limit may remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Access for emergency services and bus timetables will be maintained for the full duration of the works.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential works involve resurfacing the road to make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as providing a safer road for road users. Refreshing the road markings will also improve visibility for drivers.

“We thank road users for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
