Motorists using the A828 will benefit from an improved road surface as BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, are set to begin resurfacing works later this month.
The works will take place from Sunday 21st to Tuesday 30th May between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night. No works will take place on Fridays or Saturdays.
Unfortunately, due to restricted road widths through these sections of the A828, there is no option but to close the carriageway to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. The A828 will therefore be closed at the works location, in both directions, each night. During periods of closure, amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site. Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through the site throughout the working period.
During daytime (7am to 7pm) no work will be undertaken allowing the road to re-open. Traffic management will be removed, however a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, making it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, and greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.
“We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
